I was on NewsX World in India on July 1, 2026, discussing U.S.-Iran peace talks and U.S. relations with NATO.

I said I didn’t expect the talks that also encompass the Israel-Lebanon conflict and that are being mediated by Qatar, nominally a U.S. ally, would accomplish much. I called Qatar a “frenemy” of the United States.

The other guest was Eric Walberg, a left-wing journalist in Canada.

Surprisingly, we agreed on a lot about the Iranian talks. I personally support Israel–he clearly does not–and I didn’t agree with much of what he said about the situation between Israel and Lebanon, but didn’t get to respond.

I also said NATO is trying to become less reliant on the United States.
