Book review: “Team Jihad: How Sharia-Supremacists Collaborate with Leftists to Destroy the United States”

We are at a tipping point in our society. Either we fight to survive or surrender to the forces of anarchy and despotism. The Left has gone to the mats to obstruct the Trump administration in collusion with Islamic supremacists in an unholy alliance we call the Red-Green Axis. If they win, it spells the end for democratic elections and likely, the end for our nation.

The shocking extent of this collusion has been thoroughly documented in a recent monograph by veteran researcher and analyst Matthew Vadum, Team Jihad: How Sharia-Supremacists Collaborate with Leftists to Destroy the United States. This short book published by the Center for Security Policy collates much of the interaction between these two virulently anti-American groups and describes the strategies they use to advance their radical agendas while intimidating concerned Americans into silence. (CBN News profiled the book here.)

This is a must read. As national security expert Frank Gaffney writes in the Team Jihad foreword:

At a moment when a motley crew of demonstrators, protesters, and violent urban thugs has repeatedly joined forces — not just to make known their unhappiness with the Donald Trump administration, but to bring chaos to American streets and to seek the destruction of our constitutional order — there is an urgent need to understand who is organizing, funding and leading these cabals.

No one is better suited for this job than Matthew Vadum. Vadum is the veteran researcher who, among other accomplishments, exposed ACORN’s network of over 350 front groups, and whose book, Subversion, Inc., detailed this destructive organization’s sordid history, agenda, and notorious personnel roster.

The uninitiated are baffled by the seeming incongruity of an alliance between leftists and Islamists. After all, the Left preaches atheism, while Muslims preach dedication to Allah and only Allah. The Left preaches gay marriage and transgender bathrooms, while in many Muslim countries, homosexual activity is punishable by death. The Left claims to preach equality of the sexes, while Muslims treat women as chattel. The Left claims to champion human rights, while under the Muslim Caliphate, Vadum writes, “inequality between Muslims and non-Muslims, and between men and women, is enforced. Amputation, beheading, concubinage, execution for adultery, apostasy, homosexuality, and slander, flogging, rape and murder of captives, stoning to death, and slavery are all perfectly legal.”

So how do these seeming polar opposites work so well together? Vadum answers:

This counterintuitive alliance between leftists and Muslims is nothing new. Islam and the Left overlap. Socialism is commonly believed to have originated in Europe but it also has roots in the Islamic world. The Arabic word for Islamic socialism is ishtirakiyyah al-Islam.

Vadum references nineteenth-century Muslim scholar Jamal al-Din al-Afghani who believed that socialism was inspired by Bedouin traditions. “Socialism is part and parcel of the religion of Islam,” he said.

The book does an excellent job of describing how the marriage between Islam and the Left is a happy one, because both share the goal of destroying the U.S., both are totalitarian in inspiration, and in spite of the Left’s moralizing over social issues, its true agenda is power. The very alliance between the Left and a consummately intolerant medieval political-religious cult betrays this truth.

For their part, the Islamists embrace elements of Marxism. Vadum cites Middle East expert Daniel Pipes, who said that Islam has “historic and philosophic ties to Marxism-Leninism.” According to Pipes, Muslim Brotherhood leader Sayyid Qutb believed “an eternal Islamic era would come after the collapse of capitalism and Communism.”

Vadum quotes Iranian author and professor, Asfar Nafisi, who says that Islam “takes its language, goals, and aspirations as much from the crassest forms of Marxism as it does from religion. Its leaders are as influenced by Lenin, Sartre, Stalin and Fannon as they are by the Prophet.”

Vadum cites prominent Western leftists and communists who have publicly expressed their support for jihadists, including former Weather Underground leader Bill Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, former London mayor “Red Ken” Livingstone, former U.N. ambassador Andrew Young, and former congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio). Kucinich even led a chant of “Allahu Akbar” during a campaign stop.

By opening the floodgates of immigration and refugee resettlement to Muslims, the Left is bringing chaos to our shores. Islamic law, called “shariah,” directly challenges the primacy of U.S. constitutional law, while Muslims openly defy efforts to assimilate them into our culture. At the same time, Islamic terrorism is spiking all over the West.

But the Left, in collaboration with Muslim Brotherhood groups like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), runs interference for the terrorists. Every time a terrorist act occurs, spokesmen for these groups — along with mainstream media voices — immediately step out to defend Muslims, citing wildly unfounded fears of “anti-Muslim backlash” from the people.

Following the Boston Marathon bombing, Vadum writes, NBC News anchorman Tom Brokaw sought to describe the attack as related to gun violence, not terrorism. Similar behavior follows every single terrorist attack. The media strives to misdirect people into thinking these are just “lone wolf” actions. If so, there are a lot of lone wolves in the Muslim community.

Meanwhile, anyone who suggests Islamic terrorism and/or shariah supremacy is the problem, is labeled an “Islamophobe” in an effort to intimidate the person into silence while left-wingers continue to promote the mad rush of Muslims into the U.S.

Numerous organizations, including CAIR, New York University’s Brennan Center for Justice, Media Matters for America, the notorious Southern Poverty Law Center and others, are backed by big dollars to put out anti-Islamophobia propaganda. Vadum cites 26 foundations that support this anti-Islamophobia agenda, with actual dollar amounts.

In a mere 77 pages, Team Jihad crams extensive details regarding the Islamic, leftist, media and philanthropic networks, and their various roles in the effort to take down our country. Team Jihad is a book that should be on the desk of anyone and everyone concerned with the future survival of the United States.
