Texas abortion clinics withdraw emergency Supreme Court plea after appeals court allows medical abortions

After a federal appeals court issued an order allowing some so-called medication abortions to proceed in Texas, abortion advocates have withdrawn their request to the Supreme Court for an emergency stay on Texas’s temporary ban on most abortions, which had been justified as part of CCP virus-containment measures. Administration needs to intensify crackdown on cheap foreign labor, says panel

Sent home to contain CCP virus, students seek refunds

Students at three major Arizona universities have initiated a class-action lawsuit seeking pro-rated refunds for tuition and housing now that instruction has shifted online and students have been forced to leave campus residences in an effort to contain the CCP virus. Students across the country have complained about a lack of refunds or what they say are inadequate refunds, and more lawsuits against the nation’s institutions of higher learning may come. Supreme Court rules CITGO subsidiary must cover oil spill costs

An oil refining company has to cover cleanup costs that the owner of a vessel it was using incurred for a 2004 oil spill in the Delaware River, the Supreme Court found March 30. The ruling in the case, cited as CITGO Asphalt Refining Co. (CARCO) v. Frescati Shipping Co. Ltd., clarifies liability for spills and other maritime accidents in the future, clearing up a disagreement over contract boilerplate. CARCO was supposed to ensure the safe arrival of a tanker it chartered to deliver crude oil from Venezuela to the company’s refinery near Philadelphia, the court determined. Supreme Court rejects $20 billion racial discrimination lawsuit against Comcast

WASHINGTON—The Supreme Court unanimously rejected a $20 billion civil rights lawsuit filed against Comcast Corp. by a black television programmer who was angry that the cable service refused to carry his company’s channels, in a series of rulings issued on March 23. At the same time, in separate rulings, the court also upheld Kansas’s abolition of the insanity defense and found North Carolina couldn’t be sued for copyright infringement. In Comcast Corp. v.
