Voter Fraud Redefined

Here’s my November 8, 2012 column from American Thinker: Voter Fraud Redefined By Matthew Vadum Voter fraud ain’t what it used to be. Left-wingers have been deliberately dumbing down the definition for years. In all my years as a journalist covering American politics, I have understood that voter fraud, a phrase coined by lawyers, was a blanket term that refers to a host of election-related offenses.  Lawyers frequently make up terms for specialty areas — for example, elder law, environmental law, probate law, and wrongful dismissal law. Voter fraud, also known as vote fraud, election fraud, and electoral fraud, refers to the … Continue reading Voter Fraud Redefined

ACORN constitutional challenge of Nevada law pending

ACORN executive Amy Adele Busefink, convicted of a variety of voter fraud, is appealing her conviction.  Oral arguments were heard last month by the Nevada Supreme Court. ACORN affiliate Project Vote filed a friend of the court brief in favor of Busefink. Busefink’s brief may be found here.  The State of Nevada’s brief is available here. Busefink is challenging Nevada’s voter registration laws on constitutional grounds.   It seems like a dubious appeal but who knows what the court will do. Obama Gives $446 Million to ACORN Veteran

My article from today’s Front Page Magazine: Obama Gives $446 Million to ACORN Veteran By Matthew Vadum A former senior ACORN official has been put in charge of close to half a billion taxpayer dollars in Illinois, one of the most corrupt states in the Union and the home state of America’s Community Organizer-in-Chief. What could possibly go wrong? In 2010 the Obama administration designated $7.6 billion for a foreclosure relief program. Of that total $445.6 million will be administered by ACORN alumnus Joe McGavin, now a director at the Illinois Housing Development Authority. As Judicial Watch discovered, McGavin was … Continue reading Obama Gives $446 Million to ACORN Veteran

Obama Dirty Tricks Operative Buffy Wicks to Run Campaign Unit Named After ACORN’s Voter Fraud Factory

An article of mine from Big Government: Obama Dirty Tricks Operative Buffy Wicks to Run Campaign Unit Named  After ACORN’s Voter Fraud Factory By Matthew Vadum One of the co-conspirators in a White House-approved plot to use federal resources to produce partisan propaganda to advance President Obama’s policy agenda has been chosen to lead an Obama 2012 get-out-the-vote (GOTV) effort. The Obama operative chosen to head the GOTV effort, Buffy Wicks, was deputy director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. In that capacity she participated in a now-infamous 2009 conference call in which Obama officials urged artists to create … Continue reading Obama Dirty Tricks Operative Buffy Wicks to Run Campaign Unit Named After ACORN’s Voter Fraud Factory

ACORN to be sentenced for voter fraud Wednesday

After pleading guilty to a species of voter fraud in Las Vegas in April, ACORN will be sentenced Wednesday for its crimes. ACORN was convicted of felony unlawful compensation for registration of voters. With the full knowledge of upper management, ACORN illegally offered cash bonuses to its voter registration canvassers in a scheme called “Blackjack.” Canvassers received extra money if they hit the magic number of 21 registrations in a day. Senior ACORN executives Amy Adele Busefink and Christopher Howell Edwards were also convicted for their roles in the scheme. ACORN cared so little about the conspiracy that its voter … Continue reading ACORN to be sentenced for voter fraud Wednesday

ACORN convicted of voter fraud in Nevada

For the first time ever ACORN has been convicted in a conspiracy to commit massive voter fraud. Voter fraud, sometimes called electoral fraud, is a blanket term encompassing a host of election-related improprieties. In this case the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now pleaded guilty this week in Las Vegas to felony compensation for registration of voters. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 10. ACORN executives conspired to provide cash bonuses to voter registration canvassers. Nevada law forbids such practices because they give canvassers an incentive to file fraudulent registrations. The ACORN executives previously convicted and sentenced in the conspiracy are … Continue reading ACORN convicted of voter fraud in Nevada

ACORN Sprouting Fresh Branches

As the remnants of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now regroup in order to bring chaos to the 2012 election cycle, ACORN’s renamed New York chapter is teeming with activity. The successor organization, called New York Communities for Change (NYCC), operates out of the same office on Nevins Street in Brooklyn that is home to ACORN and its partisan arm, the socialist Working Families Party of New York. Longtime ACORN leader Jon Kest is executive director of NYCC.  Kest is the brother of Steve Kest, former executive director of ACORN, who has joined fellow radical community organizer Van … Continue reading ACORN Sprouting Fresh Branches
