ACORN sings as America burns

It’s not enough for ACORN and community organizers across the land just to swing a wrecking ball at the foundations of this great republic – they have to gloat about it too.

It’s no secret that ACORN and other radical groups such as La Raza, SEIU, and MoveOn are delighted that the welfare rolls are exploding everywhere. An appalling 1 in 7 Americans now receives food stamps and there are 70 bloated federal welfare programs. It’s the legacy of the failed $16 trillion War on Poverty – and President Obama, who erased the welfare reforms of the 1990s, wants to spend $10 trillion more.

These radical mob-o-crats are so enamored of the social decay and dependency their half-baked schemes inflict on the nation that they also hijack songs that Americans hold dear.

As I write in my new book, Subversion Inc.: How Obama’s ACORN Red Shirts are Still Terrorizing and Ripping Off American Taxpayers, ACORN uses songs and chants to reinforce identity and boost morale. ACORN songs typically contain three recurring themes: ACORN’s growing power, the solidarity of “the people,” and a definition of the group’s enemies.

There is “ACORN Marches On,” which is sung to the tune of the “Battle Hymn of the Republic”:

Mine eyes have seen the glory when the people stand as one.

We have scattered all the bureaucrats and put them on the run.

But even with our list of wins our work has just begun.

The ACORN marches on.

There’s Republicans, there’s Democrats, I don’t know which is worse,

Cuz the elephants they kill my job; the donkeys kill my purse.

Well, it’s time to take those fossil groups and pack them in a hearse.

As ACORN marches on.

And there is the “ACORN Marching Song,” which is sung to the tune of the “Caisson Song” (“over hill, over dale . . .”):

In our cities, in our states,

We’re the ones that pay the freight,

But the rich folks go rolling along.

Keep us divided, whites from blacks,

Moderate and poor on different tracks.

And the rich folks go rolling along.

Well, actually, ACORN members, largely drawn from the ranks of the privileged many Americans who pay no income taxes, don’t “pay the freight.”

You pay the freight.

As I discovered in my research, ACORN has taken in more than $79 million in federal tax dollars in recent years.

That figure doesn’t even take into account the nearly $80,000 in tax money President Obama recently gave to his old friends at ACORN.

* * * * *

America needs to know that ACORN is restructuring in time to help re-elect President Obama in 2012. Obama used to work for ACORN and represented the group in court as its lawyer. These radical leftists who use the brutal, in-your-face, pressure tactics of Saul Alinsky want to destroy America as we know it and will use any means to do it.
