Sometimes the bloodlust of the American Left knows no bounds.
First, Bernie Sanders fan James T. Hodgkinson shot and gravely wounded House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) in an assassination attempt. It was the first time a federal lawmaker had been shot since then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was shot in 2011.
Then, a communist writer named Malcolm Harris tweeted that it’s okay to kill Republicans like Congressman Scalise because, according to his twisted way of thinking, they’re trying to kill the poor, minorities, women, differently-abled stamp collectors, or whomever just by advocating Republican positions.
Now, Phil Montag, volunteer co-chairman of the Nebraska Democratic Party’s technology committee, has been revealed to have said he was “glad” Scalise was shot and that he wished the lawmaker would die, CNN reports.
In an expletive-heavy audio clip, Montag accused Scalise of trying to take away health coverage from people by supporting legislation that deals with Obamacare.
“This motherfucker, like, his whole job is like to get people [to] convince Republicans to fucking kick people off fucking health care,” Montag said in the recording that seems to begin in mid-conversation.
Here is the YouTube video:
Montag was reportedly talking with Chelsey Gentry-Tipton, who chairs the state Democratic Party’s Black Caucus, and a friend of hers, Destin Madison. (Who is this man named Destin Madison, by the way? I have no idea. This could be a case of a set-up by one Democrat hoping to oust another Democrat.)
“I hate this motherfucker. I’m fucking glad he got shot. I’m glad he got shot,” Montag says.
“So then say something. So then say something,” Gentry-Tipton says in response.
“I’m not going to fucking say that in public,” Montag answers.
“You don’t have to say that in public. Then say something, say something,” Gentry-Tipton says as Madison says, “Well then, what are you saying it to us for? What are you telling us for?”
“I wish he was fucking dead,” Montag says of Scalise.
“Why are you telling us, but not telling anyone else?” Madison says.
“I’m trying to fucking — because I’m trying to fucking figure out [unintelligible]” Montag says.
“It’s okay because I’ve been recording this conversation since you’ve come in, so I will publicly release it myself,” Madison says as the recording ends.
Jane Kleeb, who chairs the state party, said she fired Montag after seeing the video on YouTube that consists of an audio track but no video footage of the conversation.
“He made disgusting comments about a member of Congress, and we relieved him of his volunteer position of the party on Thursday morning as soon as we saw the video,” Kleeb said. “It’s a disturbing time in politics. I’ve worked in politics for over 10 years, and I’ve never seen such hateful rhetoric from both the right and left.”
Huh? What hateful rhetoric from the right? Whatever is out there, it’s nothing compared to all the venom and bile spewed nowadays by the left. But, whatever.
Montag reportedly said afterward that the recording showed his words out of the proper context and that he was “horrified” by the shooting of Scalise and “absolutely” did not wish death upon him.
“I did not call for the congressman’s death,” Montag said, adding the clip was part of a longer conversation that lasted somewhere between a half hour and an hour.
Gentry-Tipton was criticized for writing on social media that she considered it “so funny” to watch lawmakers “crying on live tv” about the trauma they suffered at the baseball practice where Scalise was shot.
“The very people that push pro NRA legislation in efforts to pad their pockets with complete disregard for human life,” she wrote in the thread. “Yeah, having a hard time feeling bad for them.”
Senior Nebraska Democrats called on Gentry-Tipton to resign from her party post be she refused.
As far as I can tell, Kleeb hasn’t fired Gentry-Tipton, who is black, after firing Montag, who is white.
Draw your own conclusions from this fact.
