I think the first part of this headline, The White House argues the impeachment inquiry is “constitutionally invalid.” They’re wrong, may be partly correct but not in the way the weaselly leftists at Vox intend: there is no impeachment inquiry whose constitutionality can be assessed.

Speaker the House Nancy Pelosi (D-California) unilaterally declared there was an impeachment inquiry in progress. She has no authority to do so — although she runs the House she is merely one member of it and cannot speak for it. Her statement merely puts everyone on notice that she is moving forward with an effort to impeach the president. An impeachment inquiry, should the House —which has no constitutional obligation to authorize such an inquiry whether or not it eventually votes on actually impeaching President Trump— desire to move forward with one, needs to be approved by the House in a vote.

This is not at all surprising coming from Vox, the underwhelming wunderkind Ezra Klein’s left-wing propaganda website. Klein, you may recall, thinks the U.S. Constitution is a hundred years old.

Klein, then at the Washington Post, said in 2010: “My friends on the right don’t like to hear this, but the Constitution is not a clear document. Written 100 years ago, when America had thirteen states and very different problems, it rarely speaks directly to the questions we ask it.”
