I was on the “Looking Forward” show on Republic TV in India on May 17, 2026, discussing the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the People’s Republic of China and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s planned trip to India.
Rubio is scheduled to visit India later this month.
I said (beginning at the 6:15 mark on the video):
“U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is scheduled to visit India for a three-day trip from May 24 to May 26. This will be his first official visit to India since he became secretary of state. The purpose of the outing is to strengthen ties between the two countries, with a focus on defense and technology. Rubio is visiting to help reset the relationship between the two countries after some tensions have arisen since the beginning of 2025. Rubio no doubt hopes to repair some of the damage done to the U.S.-India relationship by President Donald Trump’s aggressive use of tariffs against India.”
Putin is planning to visit China from May 19 to May 20.
I said (beginning at the 46:06 mark on the video):
“Russia and the People’s Republic of China have a working relationship that is defined by antagonism and opposition to the United States. They think the United States is a bully. They don’t like America’s dominance of the world in basically every way that it is possible to dominate the world – militarily, economically, technologically, culturally – and they do their best to undermine American power and influence at every opportunity.”
